Gargoyles are almost exactly the same thing as a Obelisk, although they have a different shape. They are in the shape of an Angel of Death made of stone. Any shaman can worship them like a stone head, and they will usually reap better rewards than stone heads and are much more rare.

 

A special effect that can only be preformed on gargoyles. This is 'produce ending aods', which turns the statue into a real Angel of Death, then it creates two more - twice. The middle one will head for the enemy shaman then you win the game. This happens on singleplayer's level 5.

 

Note that even if you can send a follower to worship a gargoyle (and he will worship it), the progress bar will never go up: only shamans worshipping will affect the progress bar of this special objects.

 

It's also impossible to sink gargoyles.
