C.55 Spells panel
The spells panel is the middle one on the control panel. It has the symbol of a star, so it's easy to know where to click to reach it. When selected, the color of the star icon will turn different from the other two.
To select a spell from the spells panel, you have to have that particular spell unlocked (or avaliable). If you have, mouse left click on it, and then left click on the floor where you want it to be casted (must be casted in the range). If you want to deselect a spell after you clicked on it, before casting it, just mouse right click anywhere.
It is divided in 17 sections. One you start the single player, you only have 1 spell avaliable - the blast. As your journey goes, you will unlock other spells to be avaliable on the spells panel. When a spell square has a symbol, it means you have that particular spell unlocked and can cast it anytime you want (as long as you have charges). When there is no symbol on a square, it means that you have not yet discovered that spell. When there is a questionmark symbol on a square, it means that spell can be discovered on this world.
In some cases, a stone head can give you one shot of a building, so before you worship it, there will be a question mark on that spells's square. After worshipping, the square will be filled with that spell's icon - but you can only cast it once (you know this because the square will turn grey instead of yellow, with red charges dots (because you got it from a stone head) in stead of blue ones). After casting it, that spell's square will turn to a questionmark again.
Take note that typically "weaker" spells are on the bottom of the panel, and as they are placed above, the stronger they are. The exception is the bottom left square, which can contain one of the three special spells in Populous, and are really strong.
From top to bottom and left to right, the spells on the spells panel are:
- Angel of Death
- Volcano
- Earthquake
- Erode
- Firestorm
- Tornado
- Swamp
- Flatten
- Landbridge
- Lightning
- Hypnotise
- Swarm
- Invisibility
- Magical shield
- Guest Spell (or special spell, only avaliable online or on levels 16 to 19 of the singleplayer. Can be any of the three spells Bloodlust, Teleport or Armageddon)
- Blast
- Convert
Buildings panel is selected.
Take a look at the image covering the spells panel:
- Spells can be toggled on or off (by mouse right click on the icon). When toggled on, the spell will be charging (look at swamp spell) - (unless it's already on the maximum ammount possible - look at landbridge). When toggled off, the spell will turned out of charging (look at lightning) - (if you already have maximum ammount of a spell charged, toggling it on or of will not really matter).
On this image, the player owns every spell in Populous, except for the guest spell - but he can obtain it on this level, as there is a questionmark on the square!
To toggle on or off all spells at once, hold SHIFT and mouse right click in any spell.
