C.69 In game Alerts
In-game alerts are helpful squares that grant information of some kind. They can be either the shaman's narrating, information guides or war alerts.
The first type of alert is the shaman's narrating text. This type of alert has the symbol of a open book, and except for the tutorial, it always covers the shaman's narrating speech. It happens at the start of the levels, a she reincarnates, and usually gives tips. While reading this alerts, the game will automatically pause. Because this alert happens at the start of the levels, the level's flyby will proceed it.
You can click OK or ENTER when you finish reading, but this type of alert will stay in the alert's column for the rest of the game - you can re-read it anytime you want.
Alerts only pop up when your camera is focusing a different direction - this means if you have the camera focusing the Matak shaman and she casts a spell, you will not get a spell alert, because you are actually there. The same happens with the other type of alert (double sword and troops alerts).
The alert's column works from bottom to top. The bottom alert is the older, and the top alert is the most recent. Different types of alerts can mix, and if the alert's column reaches the top of the screen, the older alert will get deleted to give room the a new one.
The Shaman's narration text and the information alert only works in singleplayer. The war alert happens both offline and online, and is the most common.
The second type of alert is the information alert. This type has the symbol of a green letter " i ", and basically gives you information as you discover new things in the game - the singleplayer's initial levels will have many of these alerts, but as your journey goes, they get rare.
This alert will appear once, and once you read it, it disappears from the alert's column (except in tutorial, where this alerts are different as they have a DELETE option near the OK: if you click OK, that information alert will remain on the alert's column until your shaman worships an obelysk. If you click DELETE, it will get deleted).
The third type of alert is the war alert. This type of alert has two different symbols: could be two swords or unit shape or a spell. Depending on what shape is has, it also comes with a colour to identify the source. When you click on this war alerts, the camera will move in the direction of the action. This means that if a spell was used or a war is occuring - and you click on that warning alert - the camera will fastly move to the respective action.
It's important to understand some aspects of the war alert. Let's take a look at some examples:
- Once you click on a war alert, your camera moves to where the action is taking place - only after that the alert will disappear from the alert's column.
- If you don't click on a war alert, it will disappear after some seconds.
- The double swords symbol means melee atack. Happens when warriors, shamans, spies or braves are involved in a fight. When preaching is happening, the preacher symbol will appear. When fireballs are being shot, the firewarrior icon will appear.
- Understand that the colour of the war alert can be tricky. If the symbol is a red preacher, doesn't always means there is a red preacher preaching - it only means there is preaching involved between you and Dakini's tribe - could be your own preacher preaching the enemy. If the symbol is a green sword, it could mean that your shaman is engaged in a melee fight against a Matak's unit, or maybe you are being atacked by Matak's warriors.
So, you now know this alerts can mean many things, so just click on them to know what's happening.
- Spells alerts are easier - a shaman casts a spell somewhere and you will be able to see where it was casted by clicking on that alert (convert and blast spells will not create an alert). You can even see where a spell was casted if fog of war is enabled.
Example of a Shaman's narration text, from the singleplayer's tutorial. You can see on the bottom right side the pause text, as the game pauses when reading these alerts.
Example of a Shaman's narration text, from singleplayer's level 2 - you can see on bottom right side the flyby text, as the level is just starting.
Example of a information alert. You will see many of these in the first singleplayer levels.
Example of a information alert, but this time from the tutorial - this tutorial information alerts have the DELETE option - if you click OK, they will remain in the alert's column so you can re-read them later.
Example of a war alert. On this image, the war alert is above a information alert. It has the shape of doubleswords and the red colour. In this case, it means melee engage between you warriors and Dakini's.
Example of consecutive war alerts. This 5 different alerts can tell you there are at least two more tribes other than yours (Chumara and Blue - this means you are playing as Dakini or Matak). It also means the Chumara casted a landbridge somewhere, and some melee and firewarriors fights are being held somewhere.
