THE POPULOUS BIBLE
F.12 The blast trick
One of the most famous tricks, it also has became target of diversed opinions. The community is splitted into accepting this as a game game mechanic, or removing it, as it is a glitch. Truth is, is requires great timing, and only mastering it is half way to be a good shaman player - which is half way to become a good Populous player. So, Should it be allowed? What do you think? Let's explain it, then.
This trick is called the blast trick/glitch because it is most commonly used in blast fights - a really important aspect of most online levels - but it can be used with any spell.
What happens is your shaman taking no damage from the fall (which is usually the most damage dealer in blasts or firewarrior shots). When you get hit by a blast - or by many firewarriors at once - your shaman will be dealt some small initial damage (from the fireblast or the fireball shots). After that, the shaman will fly. As she falls down, she loses many healthpoints. This trick will allow you to deny that fall damage, meaning you will only be dealt the blast damage itself - which is low damage.
This trick is not always easy to do, but once a player understands it, he will get it mastered, and will be able to do it most of the times, winning many blast fights and avoiding many deaths to firewarriors.
But how to do it? All you have to do is cast any spell (usually blast) right before the enemy blast (from blast spell or firewarrior shots) reaches you. It won't always work, but if you practice it, you will understand how it works, and will be saved from many deaths. Watch the video to understand it better.
