Populous Starter or PopStarter is a small program which launches a patched version of Populous where the resolution is set to the size of the desktop and with the texture fix if the mode is set to D3D. The program is written in C++ in early 2009, by TedTycoon. It starts by reading the Populous registry to see where Populous is installed. It then launches the D3D version of Populous if D3D is set in the registry otherwise it launches the software version. After launching Populous it does the appropriate memory changes to force the resolution to be the size of the desktop and also to apply the texture fix if it is D3D mode.

The program then sits as the shortcut to Populous already defined with the Populous icon.
