Popchemy
Popchemy is a game "TedTycoon" wrote originally in VB6 in 2006 as a mini game for the Populous Resurrection matchmaker. The game was a Populous version of PopCap's Alchemy as it used Populous spell symbols and sounds instead of Alchemy symbols. The game was abandoned after being half finished. Ted later rewrote it in C++ using the PopCap Framework where he could make it more similar to Alchemy. This was shortly abandoned after making the core gameplay.
- The objective is to make the board gold by placing spells next to another spell that is the same colour or type. No spell could be placed if there was another spell around it which was not the same colour or type.
- Spells could be removed by filling up a line horizontally or vertically. Spells could also be discarded which would raise the mana level, if the mana level got too high (5 discards) the player would lose the game. If the board is fully gold then player advances to the next level where she/he will encounter more spell types and colours.
- Sounds from Populous were played when the player placed a spell, discarded a spell, created a line, won the game or lost the game. A guard tower warning bell is also played repeatedly when the player is one discard away from losing.
